Wireless Internet Connection Policy<\/strong>
\nThe Deposit Free Library\u2019s (DFL) also offers a free wireless internet connection. Users of the DFL wireless service in the library must agree to the following conditions:
\n\uf076 *<\/strong>Users are expected to use the wireless network in a legal and responsible manner. Violation of federal, New York State, or local laws, including but not limited to the transmission or viewing of pornography, harmful material, fraud, hacking, spamming, and illegal downloading of copyrighted material is prohibited.
\n\uf076 *<\/strong>The library is a public space. Please respect that and be aware that your screen may be viewed by others, including staff, in the library. Inappropriate usage of the wireless network, as determined by library staff, may result in denial of internet access and\/or loss of library services.
\n\uf076 *<\/strong>As with other materials, restriction of a minor\u2019s access to the internet is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian. DFL is not responsible for the supervision of a minor\u2019s use of the internet.
\n\uf076 *<\/strong>As with most public wireless networks, the connection is not secure. Any
\ninformation being sent or received could be intercepted. Wireless users
\nshould not transmit their credit card numbers, passwords, or other
\nsensitive personal information while using the DFL wireless network.
\n\uf076 *<\/strong>It is the wireless user\u2019s sole responsibility to protect his\/her information from all risks associated with the internet, including any damage, loss, or theft that may occur as a result of using the library\u2019s wireless access.
\n\uf076 *<\/strong>Wireless users should have updated virus protection installed on their computer. DFL will not be responsible for any information that is compromised, or for any damage caused to an individual\u2019s hardware or software due to electric surges, security issues, viruses, hacking, spamming, or other causes. DFL assumes no responsibility for the safety of the user\u2019s equipment.
\n\uf076 *<\/strong>DFL assumes no responsibility for a user\u2019s equipment while in the library. Do not leave your equipment unattended.
\n\uf076 Library staff is unable to provide technical assistance. The library assumes no responsibility for computer or other wireless device configurations, security, or changes to data files resulting from connecting to the library\u2019s network.
\n\uf076 *<\/strong>Library printers are not available for use via the wireless network.
\n\uf076 *<\/strong>Due to bandwidth limitations, using DFL\u2019s wireless service to download or stream music or videos is not allowed.
\n\uf076 *<\/strong>Wireless usage is restricted to the two main rooms of the library.
\n\uf076 *<\/strong>The library has a limited number of electrical outlets. If you require electricity, please ask a staff member to direct you to designated outlets for access.
\n\uf076 *<\/strong>There is no guarantee that you will be able to make a wireless connection.
