The mission of the Deposit Free Library is to serve the community’s residents and visitors as a multi-media information center and lender of popular materials. The library also promotes literacy by providing adult and children’s programming.
General activities include the following public services:
❖ loan of popular adult, young adult, and children’s literature
❖ loan of specialized materials, including audiobooks, large print books, DVDs, and electronic books
❖ access to local historical documents and information
❖ access to public computers and the internet, including free wireless access
❖ literacy programs for children and adults
The Deposit Free Library is a member of the Four County Library System. This system provides centralized services to the 42 member libraries in Broome, Delaware, Chenango, and Otsego Counties. The Deposit Library receives the following services from 4CLS:
❖ inter-library loan of materials from all member libraries
❖ rotating loan collections of audiobooks, large print books, and DVDs
❖ access to electronic books and magazines
❖ access to electronic research databases
❖ technology and internet services
❖ a system discount on material purchases
