Wireless Internet Connection Policy
The Deposit Free Library’s (DFL) also offers a free wireless internet connection. Users of the DFL wireless service in the library must agree to the following conditions:
 *Users are expected to use the wireless network in a legal and responsible manner. Violation of federal, New York State, or local laws, including but not limited to the transmission or viewing of pornography, harmful material, fraud, hacking, spamming, and illegal downloading of copyrighted material is prohibited.
 *The library is a public space. Please respect that and be aware that your screen may be viewed by others, including staff, in the library. Inappropriate usage of the wireless network, as determined by library staff, may result in denial of internet access and/or loss of library services.
 *As with other materials, restriction of a minor’s access to the internet is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian. DFL is not responsible for the supervision of a minor’s use of the internet.
 *As with most public wireless networks, the connection is not secure. Any
information being sent or received could be intercepted. Wireless users
should not transmit their credit card numbers, passwords, or other
sensitive personal information while using the DFL wireless network.
 *It is the wireless user’s sole responsibility to protect his/her information from all risks associated with the internet, including any damage, loss, or theft that may occur as a result of using the library’s wireless access.
 *Wireless users should have updated virus protection installed on their computer. DFL will not be responsible for any information that is compromised, or for any damage caused to an individual’s hardware or software due to electric surges, security issues, viruses, hacking, spamming, or other causes. DFL assumes no responsibility for the safety of the user’s equipment.
 *DFL assumes no responsibility for a user’s equipment while in the library. Do not leave your equipment unattended.
 Library staff is unable to provide technical assistance. The library assumes no responsibility for computer or other wireless device configurations, security, or changes to data files resulting from connecting to the library’s network.
 *Library printers are not available for use via the wireless network.
 *Due to bandwidth limitations, using DFL’s wireless service to download or stream music or videos is not allowed.
 *Wireless usage is restricted to the two main rooms of the library.
 *The library has a limited number of electrical outlets. If you require electricity, please ask a staff member to direct you to designated outlets for access.
 *There is no guarantee that you will be able to make a wireless connection.
 *By agreeing to these terms, the user releases, indemnifies, and holds harmless DFL and its employees from any damage that may result in his/her use of the wireless access.
